Food Ingredients Asia — a networking event that brings together players from the food industry — is finally back in face-to-face after three years of being done virtually. Attended by 300 exhibitors and more than 11,000 visitors, FI Asia - Indonesia took place on 7-9 September 2022 at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo).

Several speakers at technical seminars and conferences mainly discussed innovation in food products, sustainable industrial development, and healthier alternative products, in line with the theme carried out by FI Asia this time, namely "Advancing food ingredients to promote healthy lifestyle and sustainability."

Several familiar brands and new players in the food and beverage sector are visible, both local manufacturers and multinational companies. The words "Vegan," "Plant-Based," "Dairy Alternatives," and "Meat Alternatives" were spotted in some corners, indicating a tendency to offer products and solutions for a healthier lifestyle and more sustainable food resources.

It is undeniable that consumer behavior has transformed substantially after the pandemic period. They are adjusting to a new normal lifestyle. More and more people are choosing convenient and healthy food options.

These trends motivate the F&B industry to develop innovation as more and more people seek healthy and sustainable food products with good taste. All these changes are a challenge for food and beverage manufacturers to be able to answer consumer demand.
